2021 Book Releases I'm excited about (/have already pre-ordered :D)

I don't know about you, but every time that I think about the fact that 2020 is almost over I feel weird. For all of us, this year has been challenging in different ways. Like every year, I am thinking about things I hope to achieve in the next year, things I'd like to change. But for the first time I now truly wish that the next year brings 'freedom', in the sense that we do not have to think about wearing our masks, keeping distance, staying at home etc. As many other people of my age, I want to spend my time with friends, have parties, festivals, and that was all cancelled this year. Now, I don't want to write a melancholic post or anything, but I truly hope that in 2021 we can regain (at least some) of our freedom back in this sense.

On a more positive note, I guess. 2020 was the first year that I tracked every single book that I read. On my Goodreads, you can find the entire list of books that I read, including a few novellas. Currently, I have read 58 books and I hope to finish at least 3 more before the end of the year. In a post that I will share on the 30th of the month, I will talk about all the bookish goals that I've set for myself in 2021. Besides thinking about goals I also started thinking about books that I want to read in 2021. Which are a lot... I've started making a list and was a little overwhelmed already by the number of books on there. Not even counting the books that will be released next year. Talking about book releases (omg how smooth hehe), in this post, I want to share some of the releases I'm excited for. I hope that 2021 will be as good as a book year as 2020 was because we saw some gems this year! So, without further ado, let's get into it!

Blood and Honor (Fae Rising #1) - Miranda Lyn
This book is already shared a lot on Bookstagram and made me very curious. As you might know, I love fae in fantasy so this is right up my alley! I haven't pre-ordered it yet, as December is already an expensive month for me, but I am definitely looking forward to reading this one next year!

A Vow so Bold and Lovely (Cursebreakers #3) - Brigid Kemmerer
On my blog, I've already shared my reviews of the first and second book in this series, so I am very excited for the last in this trilogy. As I said in my review of A Heart so Fierce and Broken, this third book with definitely make or break this series for me (no pressure though..) so I am excited to read this one. I have pre-ordered this one, so look out for a review as soon as possible!

The Iron Raven (The Iron Fey: Evenfall #1) - Julie Kagawa
I literally just found out that Julie Kagawa was continuing her Iron Fey series with Puck... As you may know, the Iron Fey series was the first fantasy series I 'fell in love with'. This, with some other books, introduced me to the fantasy genre, but this book specifically introduced me to fey (or fae). Which is why it has a special place in my heart. I am definitely reading this book about Puck!! Fun fact: Puck and other characters are inspired by Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.

A Court of Silver Flames (ACOTAR #4) - Sarah J. Maas
I don't think that I have to explicitly share my excitement about this book here. As I have done that a lot already both here and on my Bookstagram. ACOTAR is definitely one of my favourite fantasy series I've read so far, and I have planned a reread of the books early next year (just to get into the vibes you know). The series continues with Nesta, a sister of Feyre (who is the main character in ACOTAR #1 - #3). I am so excited about this one and I have already pre-ordered the Waterstones exclusive edition which contains a few scenes from Feyre's (and Rhysand's?) perspective! I JUST CANNOT WAIT AAAHH

The Lost Apothecary - Sarah Penner
I have often said that I want to read more from different genres, well so far in this list it has only been fantasy books. But when I saw this title it got me really curious. This novel is historical fiction and will be published in March. Besides, it is Penner's debut novel! I am looking forward to this book!

Namesake (Fable #2) - Adrienne Young
So I haven't read Fable yet, but I am planning to read that next year. Which is perfect because the sequel comes out in March! I have heard a lot of positive things about this series, so I can't wait to get started!

The Crown of Gilded Bones (From Blood and Ash #3) - Jennifer L. Armentrout
I've been wanting to read From Blood and Ash for the longest time... But I don't know why but I just couldn't purchase the physical copy here in the Netherlands. Literally this week, I figured I might try the Amazon of Germany (and just deliver it to the Netherlands) and omg I was able to buy it!! I think that I'll have to do the same thing for the second and third book of the series, but I am so glad I can now finally read it! This third book will be published in April, so hopefully, I finish the other two in time to read it as soon as possible! These books also went 'viral' on Bookstagram and I just need to read them!!

One Last Stop - Casey McQuiston
This year I read Red, White and Royal Blue, which I really enjoyed. That's why I am looking forward to McQuiston's expected book One Last Stop. Again a romance novel, but I just need that from time to time!

A Lesson in Vengeance - Victoria Lee
Last on this list is this book expected for publishing in August! It is a dark book recommended for fans of Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo. Ninth House is also still on my tbr but I hope to read it early next year. I will definitely read A Lesson in Vengeance if I enjoy that one!

As you might have noticed, there are only a few books on this list. Because there a lot more books published next year. I just have to limit myself to not feel overwhelmed haha. I will probably share an updated version of this list next year. Definitely look around on the internet to see other expected book publishes for next year! There are so many!! I hope you enjoyed this post, I will see you soon.

With love,

Julia
